History Of Flowery Branch

The city was first named by the Cherokees as "Anaguluskee" which translates to English as "flowers on the branch". Some of the first settlers in the city are Native Americans as it used to be an Indian Trading post however, there are a few white residents as well. In the past, the most well-known source of income in the town was cotton. In fact, all of the cities in Georgia obtained cotton from Flowery Branch, The industry paved the way for other businesses such as furniture and leather. Unfortunately, the demand for cotton decreased greatly in the 1920's, which meant that the town had lost its main source of income.

The residents, however, found a way to turn the city's economy around through tourism. Flowery Branch is home to historic installations such as the Train Depot in Main Street, the Wrigley Gum plant, and many more. The Atlanta Falcons moved their headquarters to the city and built a $20 million training campus in 2004.
